Charlie passed away April 16, 2017. He was 79 years old. He was born in Tacoma, Washington to Elizabeth and James Mellinger. He attended Lowell Elementary, Mason Junior High, and graduated from Stadium High School in 1955. Charlie then attended Washington State University and graduated with a degree in Economics. He was a member Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.
Charlie married his childhood sweetheart, Sally Woodward, while he was at WSU. They had two children, Lisa and Charles. Charlie loved his lifelong career with Brown and Haley where he became Vice President of Operations. After retiring he remained a consultant until he passed away.
Charlie was an amazing man of many talents. He grew prize winning dahlias and rhododendrons, berries and fruit trees. He loved sharing the harvest of his beautiful gardens with family and friends. But his grand passion was fishing. He and his fishing pals have many wonderful stories to tell and taught many of them how to fish.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and James Mellinger; and his wife, Sally. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa and son, Charles; sister, Mary Williams; and partner, Judy Mork.
Graveside services will be held at Tacoma Cemetery, 4801 South Tacoma Way, Tacoma, WA, 98409 on Saturday, April 22, at 10:30 AM. A reception following at the Tacoma Country Club.
