RueCeil Graves, who was born on May 10, 1924, went back to be with the Lord who placed her here on earth; received into His arms on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at Allenmore Hospital. Rue Ceil May Ross was born in Boone, Iowa on May 10, along with her identical twin, Ruth Fay Ross. She was the daughter of her dearly loved "Daddy" Glenn Ross and "MaMa" Bessie Ross. Glenn and Bessie raised eight children in a loving and joyous atmosphere during the "Depression Years" before World War II.
Our mother, RueCeil, told us many wonderful stories of her childhood which included her mom telling them "can't" should not be used because they could do whatever they set their mind to, and to "reach for the stars". That must be where our mom's positive attitude came from.
After High School, RueCeil went to college and became an Elementary School Teacher, in Iowa. In her early 20's, she met and married Charles Graves. They had a daughter, Melani, and when she was 3 years old, our dad was challenged by the Roto Rooter Corporation from Des Moines to move out West to Tacoma and start a franchise here. A second daughter, Marci, was born to them. Charles died unexpectedly, nine years after Marci was born.
We have many dear friends to thank for gathering close to our mom during that time, and have always cherished the close friends that have stayed near and dear. Throughout the years my mother added more friends and family into the fold, including dear friends from Korea, Japan, and the Middle East. Known in her later years as Grandma Rue, she became an adoptive "mother" and "grandmother" to many of these dear friends and their children. She taught all who came around her to be kinder, more compassionate, giving, and caring; leading by her example. She shared her life to the utmost with neighbors, friends, and family.
RueCeil is survived by her identical twin, Ruth, 93, and her daughters Marci and Melani and son-in-law, Roger, grand-daughter Sarah and husband Cody, and their daughter Ava. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, who are children of her siblings that preceded her into Glory.
Our mother was truly one of the dearest souls on the face of the earth and will be greatly missed. She is still alive in our hearts and now alive with Jesus her Savior, through whom she lives and moves and has her being.
