Thomas Monroe "Doc" Dockery

Thomas M. Dockery (Doc), 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 7, 2018.

Born August 2, 1928 in Clinchport, VA, Doc joined the Navy at the age of 17. He served during WW II and Korea aboard the USS Hanna and was a proud member of the VFW.  After serving his country, Doc went on to work at the Asarco Smelter for 54 years.  The last 37 of those years were as the Fire Chief for the smelter as well as for the town of Ruston that he loved so dearly.

Upon his retirement, Doc and his good buddy Gator (GB) enjoyed being the handymen of Ruston. If Doc wasn’t painting houses he enjoyed fishing, playing country music, watching Seahawks football, and spending time with family and friends.

Doc is preceded in death by his wife, Delores Dockery of 65 years; his daughter, Colleen Dockery; and son, David Dockery.  He is survived by his daughter, Karen Simons (Eric); grandsons, Todd Simons (Tami) and Troy Simons (Tara); and his two great-granddaughters, Haley and Jordyn Simons.

Doc’s generous spirit, charm and wit will forever live in our hearts. All who wish to celebrate his life are invited to attend his service on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 2pm in the Evergreen Chapel at New Tacoma Cemetery in University Place, WA.
