Obituary of Willie Anderson

Willie Pearl Anderson, age 65, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 10, 2017, due to complications of a stroke.

Willie was born in El Paso, Texas February 4, 1952. Her travels eventually led her to Tacoma, Washington where she decided to make her home. Willie worked several jobs throughout the years, ultimately deciding that helping people was what she loved to do the most. She worked as a caregiver with Catholic Community Services for over 20 years. Her next venture in life after retiring as a caregiver was becoming an advocate. Willie loved to speak out in support of others who otherwise could not speak for themselves. She also loved fighting for injustices that she personally experienced and for the injustices of others. Because of that, whenever you would say her name around the community, people instantly knew who she was. You would hear people say things like "Oh yeah, Willie! She is something else!" or "Are you talking about Willie on 23rd and G. St? Oh yeah, I know who she is."

Willie also adored her grandchildren who were very close to her heart. She would always tell her granddaughter Sierra that her grandchildren meant the most to her because it gave her a second chance to redeem the mistakes she made as a mother. She would often have them over to cook for them. Some of their favorite meals were cinnamon and sugar toast (Madison's favorite) and homemade applesauce (Gabi and Sierra's favorite). Whenever her family needed something, they knew they could count on Willie because if she had it, you would get it, and if she didn't have it, she would find a way to get it for you. She was a very devoted and caring mother. Whatever her children showed interest in, she was there for them. Whether it was her daughter LaShawnda's academic adventures or her daughter Tanesha's acting and singing performances, she did whatever was needed to support them.

Finally, Willie loved to sing for the Lord and was a devout Christian. Every time there was a special service at church she would always start practicing a song to sing. One of her favorite songs to sing was "Mary Did You Know?". Her family and church members knew that whenever Christmas and Easter came around they could count on Willie to sing that song. It is because of her love for the Lord and her very strong faith that we know she is resting in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior.

She is preceded in death by her loving parents Willie Anderson Jr. and Preve Leola Anderson. Her brother Marshall Harden Jr. and her sister Patricia Kirk. Her life will forever be cherished by her daughters LaShawnda Anderson - Ide (Chad), Tanesha McCune (Christopher Sr.) Her siblings Brenda Campbell (John), Cheryl Clark and Rodney Anderson. Her grandchildren, Sierra, Gabrielle, Madison, and Christopher (C.J.) Jr. Her nieces and nephews, Marshall II, Kevin, Shawn, Nedra, Alisha, Amiri', Jermaine, Shannon, and Deon.

Willie left a lasting impression on whoever she met and will deeply be missed.

Service will be held on Saturday February 18th at 1pm at Sheridan St Community Church of God 2303 South Sheridan Ave Tacoma, WA 98405
