Obituary of Charles Proulx

Charles John Proulx, born July 7, 1922, was a pioneer, University Place resident, and founding member of the University Place Fire Department. Chuck passed on to his next adventure peacefully surrounded by family and friends on July 4, 2017.

He was a World War II Navy veteran who survived the invasion of Okinawa and a retiree of the Department of Defense at Ft. Lewis. As past-master and lifetime member of the Horace H. Tyler #290 Masonic Lodge, he participated in many community service functions. He attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lakewood. As a world traveler, his family and friends will cherish the adventures they shared with him.

Chuck is predeceased by Barbara Proulx, his wife of 46 years, and his eldest son, Frank. He is survived by his daughters, Jean Munro (Jack) and Deborah Wayno (Tom); his son, Daniel Proulx, his two sisters, Jayne and Frances; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and his partner in adventure for the past 22 years, Pearl Pim.

Viewing will be on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at New Tacoma Cemetery’s Chambers Creek Chapel, followed by a funeral service at noon. Reception following at the Horace Tyler Masonic Lodge, 2530 Grandview Drive W, University Place, WA 98466.
