Obituary of Eileen Livingston

Our dearly loved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on August 7, 2017 surrounded by her family. Mom was born in Tacoma to Duncan and Winifred McLaren, joining her big brother, Bill, on September 11, 1928.

Mom graduated from Stadium High School and attended Bethel College in St Paul. Mom returned to Tacoma and worked in the records office of Pierce County following college. During this time she met our father who was stationed at Fort Lewis during the Korean War. Mom and Dad married in Tacoma on November 6, 1953.

Eileen is preceded in death by her husband, David L, and her parents, and brother. She is survived by her children, Jill Merwin (Mark), Terry, and Scott. Eileen is also survived by her grandchildren, Luke Merwin (Trish), Jake Merwin (Cheri), Matt Merwin (Samantha), Michael Merwin, Carleen Custis (Andrew), Sarah Livingston, and Carson Livingston; and her great grandchildren, Tatum, Reagan, and Kaesen. Mom is also survived by Bill's wife Harriet and her extended family. Mom is also missed by her loyal companion, Lewie the Dachshund.

Eileen was a member of Praise Covenant Church where she was very fond of her church family. She also served as the church secretary for many years. When Eileen wasn't traveling much of the world with Dave and their many friends she kept a lovely home with beautiful gardens. She was actively involved with all of her children and loved them dearly. The family would like to thank wonderful friends Gene Watson and Andrea Adams for their love and support in caring for Mom and the staff at Allenmore Hospital who cared for her during her final days.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, at Praise Covenant Church, 3501 South Orchard Street, Tacoma, WA.

Our sincerest condolences go out to the family. Please check back for service information.
