Obituary of Anne Ratzlaff-Swanstrom
Anne grew up between Anchorage and the Seattle area, but always considered Normandy Park "home". After graduating from AJ Dimond High School in Anchorage, Anne attended the University of Washington and received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1987. She worked for a while in early childhood education and then joined Boeing Human Resources in 1998. In 2001 Anne received her Master’s in Business Administration from Seattle University and continued to obtain numerous human resource professional certifications throughout her career at Boeing. In 2008 Anne became a HR manager, and in 2011 was promoted to HR senior manager. The people who worked with Anne respected her leadership, and loved her passion and commitment. She was truly loved by all.
After years of searching for a child to adopt, Anne found a special little girl half way around the world in Guatemala. Mari Grace Anex was born on October 18, 2006 and came home with Anne in May 2007. They were an inseparable team.
In 2013, Anne fatefully met the love of her life at a high school reunion in Burien, Washington. Fred Swanstrom soon joined Anne and Mari's inseparable team. Fred’s and Anne's shared passions were traveling, live music, and making each other happy. On November 18, 2017 Anne married her best friend and lover.
We love you Anne. You were strong, smart, witty, driven, wise, inquisitive, and so very beautiful. The best daughter and loving sister, the most nurturing and caring mother, the most loyal and committed friend, and the most passionate loving wife.
Anne is preceded in death by brother, Gregory A. Ratzlaff, USMC, born March 1, 1968, died August 3, 2004. Anne is survived by her parents, Gary and Kathleen Ratzlaff; husband, Frederick Swanstrom; daughter, Mari Grace Anex; and innumerable friends and family who miss her dearly.
